Have look at Dxomark.com
There you will see the real test performance of the most common camera's.

The Canon 1DMIII is tested here also, and for low light performance and is even rated below the Nikon D700.

Here are the tested values of "good quality images @max ISO" fot low light applications:
Nikon D4 & D800 not tested yet.
Nikon D3s @3253 ISO
Nikon D700 2303 ISO,
D3 @2290 ISO.
Canon5DMII @1815 ISO
Canon 1DMIII @1663 ISO

You can check your need as:
Overall performance, Landscape performance (dynamic range), Portraint performance (color depth), and sports (Low light ISO)

Hi Kylie, let say you choose wedding package 2 which costs £700. This £700 must be paid before the wedding. Then lets says 6 months after our wedding you decide you want an album and lets sat it is £300. When you order the album you would need to pay half (£150) then I would design the album. Once you are happy with the album design, then you pay the other £150 at which point I would order the album with my supplier.

Hopefully this helps...

http://www.cmphotography.com/blog.cfm

In short D800 is a great camera but he says D4 will be main body for weddings and D800 will be 2nd camera.

D3X – 24MP rarely used by wedding photographers, why? Poor low light performance.
D3S & D700 – 12MP most commonly used cameras for professional wedding photographers, why? Excellent low light performance.

D4 – 16MP Nikon already stated low light performance will be better than D3s
D800 – 36MP IF low light performance is as good as D700 then could be used for weddings but can so no benefit of 36MP. But D700 low light performance is way less than D4.

Canon 1DX – 18MP is Canon’s rival to D4, nothing between then, both great great cameras.

If money was no object it would have to be the D4, the new low light king. However money is an object (for me) so instead of buying D800 I would buy second hand D3s, great low light images!

I would like to (belatedly) thank Diamond Photography for the excellent pictures of our wedding in June. The whole process was smooth and trouble free. We where kept informed at all times.

We still keep looking back at the pictures after 6 months and we cannot find a single photo that we don't like.

All the best for the future and if anybody asks if I know a wedding photographer I'll be sure to send them your way.
